Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) announced $112.6 million in the first round of investments for repairing Michigan bridges under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Law she helped pass. This is part of a total $563.1 million investment over the next five years for Michigan.

"It's time to fix the damn bridges. Strengthening bridges from Gibraltar to Grosse Ile will make our community safer, create jobs and grow the local economy, improve commute times, and connect our communities," said Dingell. "We have a responsibility to strengthen our decades old infrastructure and ensure the safety of our neighbors. Grateful for the enactment of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law which will help us rebuild and maintain our infrastructure and keep America resilient."

In Michigan, 1,219 bridges are in poor condition. The investment announced today is designed to help Michigan repair local bridges that are critical for getting to school and work, moving commerce, and connecting communities. The Infrastructure Law also includes a separate program designed to support larger bridges through a competitive grant program. Details on that program will be announced at a later date.
